Writing a letter is a fading form of communication. What if it brings 29 states of India together.
Pradeep Lokhande
Theme of today’s sesisions “DO” according to me stands for Dangerously Optimistic. I am dangerously optimistic. We listen only the bad. India got 3% of global land, 6% of total water and 17% of people. We have to uplift 55% of them from rural area by 2032.
It is not like, everyone is bad or corrupt. Academically zero guy like me came from a village and addressing you now. My wife and father used to write a letter to each village. 6700 villages to which we wrote and we got just three replies. All of them read “who are you?”. Another 20000 letters shipped out and we got 40 answers.  This time the reply is “Do you think you are a governor?”.
On Diwali we chose to write to them wish you a happy Diwali. We got thousand letters wishing us back. This is lovely country. Do it.
Non-resident villagers
When you earn money, you do something. In  2001, I launched non-resident villager moment. Every citizen is a non-resident villager. They have an ancestral village of origin. Do something for your village and India is changed. When you do for your village, you don’t expect anything in return. Do something for your village.
Give away an old computer to schools that need them. Poor schools teach them just theory about computers. I have installed 28000 computers in 20000 schools. Done. Possible. You can do it.
Village Developer
In 2016 we have launched “village developer”. Youth from village works in village. 16 rupees in village is same as 16000 rupees in metro. In spite of big money, you can’t own a home in metro. Stay in village.
Library in village schools
In 2010, we started one more program. Establish a library in secondary school in each village. We opened 3730 libraries in Maharashtra in just one year. 1,75,000 students have written back their analysis on the books. Managers of libraries are women and girls.
If I can do it, anyone can do it. Do change even one student or just one school. That is big enough. We are a developing country. If everyone brings that small change, it is good enough.
What is the population of New Zealand? 47 lakhs. Every year we have 1.4 crores of kids born that is three New Zealands.
Village Wiki
“There are only 4 countries bigger than UP in population. We can do big with each other. We are creating a Wikipedia of 85000 villages. We identified key villages where surrounding villagers come for business. We picked 115 fields or area for this wiki. 2019 is my target.
15 crore students in primary education. Go to a vendor next to your house. What does she earn daily. Very small amount. Ask her what’s her life goal. She and every small vendor says “I want to put my kid to studies.” This is the change that is happening.
Biggest revelation is there is satellite dish in every village home. That is an opportunity.
I am dangerously optimistic. Whenever every one talks about negative things or the development that isn’t there, we say “it is bad.” There are only 55000 villages without power. It means 5,75,000 villages have power now. Most of the roads in India are all-season roads. That is good. We are getting there.
Populistic schemes like NREGA do help as people save and hence they invest.
Decentralization of power through Panchayiti Raj, thanks to the women that drive Panchayat for their cleanliness. Who understand sanitation, childcare and economics better than female. Female can become Sarpanch.
Five final pointers
1) By 2018, every indian will have an android phone.
2) 2020, entire India will be literate, by that I  mean everyone understands good versus bad.
3) Girls are studying and they are going to change two houses.
4) irrespective of caste and religion, entire youth of this country is inspired.
5) 2032, every indian says “I am staying in a great country”.
IT stands for “Indian Talent” sitting in front of me. With the help of DO IT that is “Dangerously Optimistic Indian Talent” we can achieve the goal of 2032.
